Went to the free motoring festival in Bournemouth yesterday. Have to say that it was great! Not often you get to see competition cars (including F1) blasting up a residential road. We didn’t manage to see everything on offer – it’s really spread out, and we weren’t able to get hold of accurate timing/location info online – but what we did see was excellent. Plus, you have to not mind crowds, especially on a sunny day, it is the seaside after all. Hope it’s on next year, as I’d like to be involved.
My photography was a bit rubbish though. Got the best position I could then hit the button and hoped for the best as the cars blasted past the end of my nose. They were doing some serious speed in these pictures. One of the drivers explained the rules to us as “go as fast as you like between these 2 points, turn around and do it again” – we approve.
Ferrari 500 TRC. Surprisingly loud for a 2 litre!
Cobra Daytona. Quite quiet compared to the others. Which was odd.
and THE LOUDEST OF THEM ALL, my personal favourite – the Ferrari Daytona Competizione. Didn’t get a decent picture of it though. Which pains me.
It’s not all about the big money cars though, this Porsche is a 208mph car, but it’s not a 6-figure hypercar; it’s a homemade, NOS-powered, chrome-wrapped rocket. Seen here being inspected by one of our many local smiley, retired ladies.
